With the UEFA Euro 2024 about to kick off in Germany on 14th June, we wanted to highlight the trophy that awaits the winner! It's named after Henri Delaunay, a French football visionary who dreamt of a European championship for national teams back in the 1920s! Sadly, he wouldn't live to see his dream come true, but his legacy lives on in the Henri Delaunay Cup.
There have even been two versions of the trophy. The original trophy, used until 2008, was a smaller, more delicate design.
But as the competition grew in prestige, so did the trophy. The current version is a whopping 60cm tall and weighing a hefty 8kg, all crafted from sterling silver.
Who will be the next captain to raise this iconic trophy in victory? The excitement for Euro 2024 is building!
